Robbins Announces Grant for French Creek Protection
in West Mead
Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) today announced the
awarding of a $77,000 state grant to protect the water quality of
French Creek in West Mead Township.
The Senator said the Community Conservation Partnership Program
grant would allow the Conneaut Lake-French Creek Valley Conservancy to
acquire an easement on 141 acres along French Creek off of Routes 6
and 19. "The purchase will aid stream and habitat protection, Robbins
said. "French Creek is an important part of the community, and this
grant will help provide a buffer between the roadway and creek to
reduce runoff and keep the creek clean."
Robbins said the CCPP initiative is administered by DCNR Bureau of
Recreation and Conservation to provide financial and technical
assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land
trusts and other nonprofits for the planning, acquisition and
development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects.
Funds are provided by the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation
Fund and the Environmental Stewardship Act Fund.
