Senator Robbins, Representative Stevenson Announce
Grant to Help Grove City Pay for Recycling
Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and Representative
Dick Stevenson (R-8) today announced the approval of a state grant to
support recycling in Gove City.
The lawmakers said the $7,994 Recycling Performance Grant is based
on the total tons recycled by Grove City as well as its overall
recycling rate for 2002. The overall recycling rate factors in the
types of materials recycled.
"The Commonwealth plays a major role in assisting communities in
their recycling efforts, and this grant will help Grove City cover the
cost of meeting state requirements," said Robbins.
"By working with local communities in this manner, Pennsylvania can
have successful recycling initiatives that do not overburden boroughs
and townships," said Stevenson.
The Recycling Performance Grant Program is administered by the
state Department of Environmental Protection. The program provides
incentives to help communities increase their recycling rates and
exceed the statewide goal of recycling 35 percent of all municipal
waste.
