Senator Robbins Undergoes Successful Surgery
Meadville - State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50th) underwent successful
heart by-pass surgery today at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie.
Dr. Fred Holland, Robbins' cardio-vascular surgeon, called the
preventative surgery a success. Senator Robbins is expected to make a
full recovery and resume normal activities within the next few weeks.
"Without question, the surgery was a success," Dr. Holland said.
"Everything went as planned and because of his age and excellent
health, we expect a full and quick recovery."
Robbins, 60, in his fourth term as state Senator, is looking
forward to getting back to work serving the residents of the 50th
Senatorial district, which includes Crawford, Mercer, and parts of
Butler and Lawrence Counties.
"Since having this surgery was recommended by my doctor, this was
the right time to proceed," Robbins said. "With the Senate in recess
until September 20th, I can focus on my recovery without missing
session in Harrisburg."
Robbins, an elected delegate to the Republican National Convention,
chose not to attend the festivities in New York City this week, opting
to have the surgery in anticipation of the upcoming legislative
session in Harrisburg. Alternate delegate Ann Coleman of Hermitage
will take his place.
Robbins' offices in Greenville, Meadville and Harrisburg will
remain open, maintaining their regular hours during his recovery
period.
"I have every confidence in my staff," said Sen. Robbins. "They
will be filling in for me at various functions and maintaining my
schedule while I am on the mend. My offices will remain open to serve
my constituents. I am also grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff
at St. Vincent's who have provided outstanding care. My wife Cindy and
I are very appreciative of them and, of course, thankful for the
prayers and support we continue to receive from our family, friends,
and neighbors. I look forward to getting back to work soon."
