FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Robbins To Host Government Seminar For High School StudentsGREENVILLE - State government will come alive for close to 100 high school students in Pennsylvania's 50th Senatorial District during a seminar sponsored by Senator Robert D. Robbins. Robbins will host "State Government: A Closer Look" this Friday, October 22nd at Thiel College, Greenville, for high school students in the 50th district, which encompasses all of Crawford and Mercer counties and parts of Butler and Lawrence counties. "By providing the opportunity for interaction between high school students, state legislators and lobbyists, we will expose these high school students to the legislative process," Robbins said. "Students will be participating as 'Senators for a Day' in committee meetings and a mock session of the full Senate. I am pleased that seventeen of the twenty-four high school districts in the 50th district will be represented." "Allowing the students to take an active role in the legislative process means they will leave with a better understanding of how bills become law in Pennsylvania," Robbins said. "It is important for our students to recognize how their current and future participation in government will shape Pennsylvania in the years to come." Senator Robbins will also be joined by his colleagues, state Representatives Michael Gruitza (D-7) and Rod Wilt (R-17). For more information about the program, please contact Ann Coleman in Senator Robbins' Greenville office at 724-588-1323 or 1-800-222-8793. CONTACT: Ann Coleman (724) 588-1323
