Robbins Announces $137,500 Grant to Develop Hickory Township Park

Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) today announced the awarding of a state grant to help develop a community park in Hickory Township.

Robbins said the $137,500 Community Conservation Partnerships Program grant will be used for the development of C. J. Long Spartan Park.

"Community parks are a great resource for recreation, exercise and enjoying the outdoors," said Robbins.  "However, park development can put a strain on local funds, and I am pleased that the state is assisting in this project."

Robbins said the CCPP initiative is administered by DCNR Bureau of Recreation and Conservation to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts and other nonprofits for the planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects.  Funds are provided by the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund and the Environmental Stewardship Act Fund.
