Robbins, Gruitza Announce Outdoor Recreation Funds for Hermitage, South Pymatuning

Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and Representative Mike Gruitza (D-7) today announced the awarding of state funds to aid outdoor recreational projects in Hermitage City and South Pymatuning Township.

The legislators said Hermitage will receive $100,000 for the further development of the Linden Pointe Recreational Trail, and South Pymatuning will receive $40,000 to further develop its community park.

"Community parks and trails are a great resource for recreation, exercise and enjoying the outdoors," said Robbins. "However, development can put a strain on local funds, and I am pleased that the state is assisting in these projects."

"These two projects are important to the communities. They are local initiatives worthy of state assistance," said Gruitza.

The funds are being awarded through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program.

The CCPP initiative is administered by DCNR Bureau of Recreation and Conservation to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts and other nonprofits for the planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects. Funds are provided by the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund and the Environmental Stewardship Act Fund.
