Robbins Announces Crawford County Recycling Grant

Harrisburg –Crawford County is receiving a state grant to help operate its recycling program, state Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) announced today.

Robbins said the amount of the $88,012 grant was based on the total tons and types of materials recycled in the county in 2003.

"This grant is related to Crawford County's performance in recycling waste," said Robbins. "The county recycled 6,801 tons in 2003, which means that waste was diverted from landfills."

The grant was awarded through the Recycling Performance Grant Program, administered by the state Department of Environmental Protection. The grant is in addition to other funds DEP allocates to municipalities in the effort to reach a statewide goal of recycling 35 percent of all municipal waste.
