Robbins Announces Mercer County Arts Grants

Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) today announced the approval of state grants to support three arts organizations in Mercer County.

Robbins said the grants were approved at a recent meeting of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

The senator announced the following grants: Bach Society in Grove City ($850), Greenville Symphony Society ($792) and the Valley Lyric Opera in Greenville ($997).

"These organizations make the arts accessible to a broad audience of Mercer County citizens," said Robbins.  "They show that you don't have to travel to large cities to experience great music and theater. I am very pleased to announce these grants to support their work."

Created in 1966, the 19-member Pennsylvania Council on the Arts responds to requests for support of projects initiated by nonprofit groups, institutions and artists.  Grants are awarded with input from more than 100 citizens serving on advisory panels.
