Robbins Announces $20,000 Grant for Volant Sidewalk Improvements

Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) today announced the approval of a state grant to pay for sidewalk improvements along Volant Borough's Main Street.

Robbins said the Community Revitalization Program grant, administered by the Department of Community & Economic Development, would be used to repair – and where necessary, replace – sidewalks along Main Street.  Work would continue to side streets, as funds allow.

"Volant attracts thousands of visitors each year to its retail and specialty shops on Main Street," said Robbins.  "Sidewalk improvements will benefit residents and make sure that the borough's small-town charm continues to bring visitors back."

The project will include installation and repair of handicap crossings and painting of crosswalks and curbs where necessary.

"One of the most important jobs of a legislator is to make sure that tax dollars return to the local area to benefit local projects. Fortunately, my position in Senate leadership allows me to advocate for my district and ensure that Lawrence County gets its fair share of funds," said Robbins.
