FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Robbins To Host Government Seminar For High School StudentsGreenville - State government will come alive for over 100 high school students in Pennsylvania's 50th Senatorial District during a seminar sponsored by Senator Bob Robbins (R-50). Sen. Robbins will host his annual "State Government: A Closer Look" Student Seminar on Friday, October 14th at Thiel College, located in Greenville, for high school students in the 50th district, which encompasses all of Crawford and Mercer counties and parts of Butler and Lawrence counties. "By providing the opportunity for interaction between high school students, legislators and lobbyists, high school students will gain a better understanding of state government and the legislative process," Robbins said. "Students will be 'Senators for a Day' as they will participate in committee meetings and a mock session of the full Senate. I am pleased that sixteen of the twenty-four high school districts in the 50th district will be represented." "I believe hands-on leaning experiences like this really make a difference for students as they engage in the legislative process and take an active role in debating issues and voting on legislation," Robbins said. "It is my hope that students recognize how their current and future participation in government will shape Pennsylvania in the years to come." Sen. Robbins will also be joined by Mark Corrigan, the Secretary of the Senate, as well as his colleagues in the House, State Representatives John Evans (R-5), Dick Stevenson (R-8), and Rod Wilt (R-17). Mercer County Commissioner Michele Brooks will also be in attendance.
