FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Robbins Hosts Government Seminar For High School StudentsGreenville - State government came alive for over 80 high school students in Pennsylvania's 50th Senatorial District during a seminar sponsored by Senator Bob Robbins (R-50). Sen. Robbins hosted his annual "State Government: A Closer Look" Student Seminar last week at Thiel College, located in Greenville, for high school students in the 50th district, which encompasses all of Crawford and Mercer counties and parts of Butler and Lawrence counties. "By providing the opportunity for interaction between high school students, legislators and lobbyists, high school students gained a better understanding of state government and the legislative process," Robbins said. "Students were 'Senators for a Day' as they participated in committee meetings and a mock session of the full Senate. They addressed such issues as internet hunting, driving with cell phones, student dress code in public schools, tobacco possession by minors and extreme sports parks." "I was pleased by the thoughtful discussion on all the issues. I believe it was informative and an eye opening experience for the students," stated Robbins.
