Robbins Announces $174,800 to
Move Keystone Regional Industrial Park Forward
Grant will fund planning for site that could
create 1,500 jobs.
Harrisburg –State Sen. Bob Robbins (R-50) today
announced the approval of a $174,800 state grant to
further work on the Keystone Regional Industrial
Park project, which is expected to create 1,500 jobs
in the Meadville area.
Robbins said the funds will help pay for
developing a site water supply plan, environmental
assessment, and a comprehensive master plan for the
Greenwood Township location.
"This is a 1,300-acre site, and issues such as
water supply and site engineering have to be figured
out before the project can move forward. That's why
I pressed for this funding – to keep the work
moving," said Robbins.
Along with environmental assessment and the
master plan, the senator said, the grant will allow
the Meadville Area Industrial Commission to
determine if it is feasible to construct water
wells, pumping systems and lines from the Conneaut
Marsh area to supply water to the site.
The Business in Our Sites grant was approved by
the Commonwealth Financing Authority, created by the
legislature and the Governor last year to fund up to
$1 billion in economic development initiatives
across Pennsylvania.
"We created the Business in Our Sites program and
the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support
projects just like this – projects that will bring
good jobs to our area," said Robbins. "I am pleased
I was able to work with the Meadville Area
Industrial Commission to secure these funds, and
I'll continue to use my position in Senate
leadership to finance local projects that will
create good-paying jobs."
