Robbins Announces Grant to Help Cover Mercer County Sewage Treatment Costs

Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) today announced the awarding of a state sewage treatment grant to the Mercer County Joint Sewer Agency.

Robbins said the agency has been awarded $14,765 through the Sewage Facilities Enforcement Grants Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.  The funds will be used to reimburse the agency for 50 percent of the eligible expenses of enforcing state sewage standards.  The agency received a $5,081 grant in August.

"There are strict standards for sewage treatment, and local governments and agencies spend a lot of money meeting those standards.  That's why I work to ensure that state tax dollars are returned to our communities to help cover those costs," said Robbins.

The Mercer County Joint Sewage Agency serves Clark Borough and the townships of Deer Creek, Delaware, Lackawannock, East Lackawannock, Fairview, Findley, French Creek, Jackson, Jefferson, Liberty, New Vernon, Perry, Pine, Sandy Lake, South Pymatuning, Sugar Grove and Worth. The agency also serves Little Beaver Township in Lawrence County and the townships of Frenchcreek and Canal in Venango County.
