Robbins Announces Recycling, Sewage Treatment Funding for Mercer County

Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) today announced the approval of two state grants to help Mercer County pay for its recycling program and sewage treatment.

Robbins said a $20,407 grant will be used to reimburse the county for half of the cost of its recycling coordinator's salary and expenses.

The Mercer County Joint Sewage Agency will receive $3,915 to reimburse it for half of the cost of performing state-mandated sewage enforcement activities, Robbins said.

"Recycling and sewage treatment are necessary for clean, healthy communities, but they are expensive operations. I am pleased to announce this assistance to help Mercer County cover these costs," said Robbins.

The grants were awarded by the state Department of Environmental Protection.
