Robbins Announces Grants for Park, Playground Projects

Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) today announced the approval of state grants to assist four Mercer Country community projects.

Robbins announced the following grants:

  • Grove City Borough -- $50,000 for Memorial Park shelters and paving.
  • Mercer County Regional Council of Governments -- $20,000 to determine the feasibility of rehabilitating the Lackawannock-Shenango-West Middlesex Community Pool in West Middlesex.
  • Sharon City -- $31,600 for the rehabilitation of B Street, Jefferson, Thornton and Wengler playgrounds.
  • Wilmington Township -- $6,000 to prepare a Master Site Development Plan for the recently acquired, two-acre parcel of land adjacent to the township building.

"These funds are being awarded through the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, and I think it's very important that Mercer County projects receive their fair share of support. I'm pleased to say that, once again, that has been the case for local projects."

The CCPP initiative is administered by DCNR Bureau of Recreation and Conservation to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts and other nonprofits for the planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects.  Funds are provided by the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund and the Environmental Stewardship Act Fund.
