Robbins: Funding Secured for Northwest PA Job Incubators

Aids job creation in Titusville, Meadville and Greenville.

Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) announced today that he has secured $500,000 to support job-creating incubators in the region.

Over the past three years, Robbins has secured $1.5 million for the incubators, including sites in Titusville, Meadville and Greenville and six others in Northwestern Pennsylvania.

"We must work constantly to attract startup businesses to our region. These incubators provide a facility to startup businesses, and offer them expert support and assistance until they are ready to grow and expand," said Robbins. "Innovators and entrepreneurs do not have to go to a big city to move their idea to the marketplace. They can find the support they need right here. And if their startup grows, they can keep it here and provide local jobs."

James L. Lowry, President of the Northwest Pennsylvania Incubator Association and operator of the McNeilly Business Center in Greenville said "Without the help of Senator Bob Robbins in securing funding for these facilities they would not have been able to provide assistance to the currently 131 businesses employing 838 people in the region. Over the past decade these facilities have helped create hundreds of small companies employing thousands of people, Senator Robbins has always been there for us."

The funding for the nine northwest incubators was included in the Department of Community and Economic Development budget.
