Robbins: Funding Helps to Preserve Mercer County Historical Interests

State grants of $15,000 and $10,000 will be awarded to Mercer County Commissioners and the Mercer County Historical Society, respectively, according to Senator Bob Robbins (R-50).

The Pennsylvania History and Museum Commission issued a General Operating Support for Official County Historical Society Grant to assist the Mercer County Historical Society with daily operating costs. The Mercer County Commissioners will be receiving an Archives and Records Management Grant.

"It is important that we preserve the Commonwealth's museums and historical societies," said Robbins. "These facilities provide a great resource for students, adults and families to learn about the history of our great state."

For Fiscal Year 2006-07, the Commission has awarded 107 General Operating Support for Museum Grants totaling $2,379,882 and 48 General Operating Support for Official County Historical Society Grants for $411,413.
