FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Robbins Announces $900,000 Rail Grant for Duferco Farrell Corp. to Expand Sharon FacilitiesHarrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) announced the approval of a $900,000 rail grant to help modernize and expand the Duferco Farrell Corp. site in Sharon. Robbins said the track rehabilitation and construction project will expand the rail facilities at Duferco's Sharon location. This will allow Duferco to handle 75 car unit trains in and out of the facility more efficiently with Norfolk Southern and increase production at the plant. The completed project will help create 20 jobs and maintain 500 jobs, Robbins noted. "Access to modern, efficient rail facilities can give regions like ours an edge when competing for business and jobs. It's important that we maintain and improve our rail service whenever possible to create jobs and make Mercer County attractive for businesses looking to relocate," said Robbins. The grant was awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Rail Freight Transportation Assistance Program. Grants can be used for the construction, maintenance, repair and rehabilitation of rail lines, rail sidings and grade crossings. CONTACT: Mike Hengst
