Robbins Announces $216,000 in Aid for
Crawford County Projects
Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) today
announced the approval of twelve state Community
Revitalization grants to benefit a number of community
projects throughout Crawford County.
"These are local projects, administered by local
governments, community organizations or area development
organizations," said Robbins. "These grants represent state
tax dollars returning to the community to benefit local
endeavors and ultimately saving tax dollars at the local
level."
The projects that are receiving funding are the
following:
- Beaver Township, $15,000, to construct a new salt
storage shed in the township. Currently the township is
operating with their anti-skid and salt materials exposed to
snow and ice making it difficult to respond timely to
improve road conditions.
- Crawford County, $40,000, to assist with needed repairs
to the Canadohta Lake Dam located in Bloomfield Township.
- Crawford County Historical Society, $20,000, to assist
with repairs to the roof and porch at the historic Baldwin
Reynolds House Museum.
- East Fallowfield, $15,000, to assist with local road
repairs as a result of flooding last summer.
- East Mead Township, $20,000, to assist East Mead and
West Mead Township upgrade Townline Road. This road is
heavily used as a result of the location of the youth soccer
fields where over a thousand children from all areas, as
well as high school teams, participate in events.
- Fallowfield Fire & Rescue, $6,000, to assist with the
replacement of the heating and air conditioning systems at
the fire house.
- National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA),
$10,000, to assist with the BattleBot IQ program. The
BattleBot IQ program is a hands-on robot building curriculum
for students to promote and attract youth and adults to the
high demand technical careers. NTMA's mission is to help
members of the U.S. precision custom manufacturing industry
achieve business success in a global economy.
- Sadsbury Township, $25,000, to assist with the purchase
and installation of pipe and other materials for a flood
control project in the township.
- Steuben/Richmond Township, $15,000, a joint venture to
assist with the repair and upgrades to a roadside mower used
by both townships as well as the installation of road signs.
- Titusville City, $15,000, renovations to Burgess Park.
- Titusville Area Hospital, $25,000, to assist with design
costs for the renovation of an abandoned downtown building
to be used as an office and medical facility for the
hospital.
- Vernon Township, $10,000, improvements to the Lincoln
Avenue Sports Complex.
Robbins said the state Community Revitalization grants
are designed to support projects that promote community
improvement, public safety and job creation.
The Community Revitalization program is administered by
the Department of Community and Economic Development.
