Grant Awarded for Roche Park Improvements

$10,000 for upgraded facilities, improved drainage

Vernon Township, Crawford County, will receive a $10,000 Community Revitalization grant for improvements to Roche Park, according to state Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and state Representative Michele Brooks (R-17).

The money will go toward improvements to the fencing and infield areas of three little league fields and to improve drainage at the site.

"This grant is an important investment in the community," Senator Robbins said. "I am pleased that the state is helping to improve the ball field areas. Little league baseball is a key part of our communities and is a great recreational activity that provides many positive lessons in teamwork and individual effort for young people."

"There are many players who use the fields at Roche Park with leagues ranging from T-ball up to senior leagues," Representative Brooks said. "I am pleased that this state grant will help improve the recreational opportunities for the players and for the community."

The state Community Revitalization grants are designed to support projects that promote community improvement, public safety and job creation.   The Community Revitalization program is administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development.
