Hickory Township Receives $10,000 Grant

Senator Robbins secures funding for C.J. Long Park storage building

Hickory Township will receive a $10,000 state Community Revitalization grant for a storage building at C. J. Long Park, according to state Senator Bob Robbins (R-50).

Senator Robbins was able to secure the funding for the building which will be used for the storage of maintenance equipment at the park. The Township has been working to develop the multi-use park since 2002 and hopes to have it open by next year.

"I look forward to the opening of C.J. Long Park. It will be a real jewel for the community as a site for hiking and picnicking and as the home of fields for local baseball and soccer organization," Senator Robbins said. "I am pleased to have been able to secure this state funding which will provide a storage facility for the equipment necessary for the upkeep of the grounds."

The state Community Revitalization grants are designed to support projects that promote community improvement, public safety and job creation.   The Community Revitalization program is administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development.
