Port Meadville Airport Nets $331,500 in Grants

Funding to construct storage building, t-hangar taxiway

Construction projects at the Port Meadville Airport will receive $331,500 in grants, according to Senator Bob Robbins (R-50).

The Airport will receive the funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Bureau of Aviation 2007 Block Grant Program (which includes state and federal money) to construct a storage building to protect snow removal equipment and to design t-hangar taxiway for accessing aircraft storage facilities.

"This is a major boost for the Port Meadville Airport," Senator Robbins said. "The new building will provide storage space for the equipment necessary to keep the airport open and running during the winter, while the taxiway will improve the accessibility of the facility. These are important improvements. The truth is smaller airports are becoming increasing more important as economic development marketing tools. Businesses are looking for ways to make travel and this shipping of materials more convenient and less time consuming."
