Environmental Ed Grants Awarded

Hermitage, Sharon, Mercer Co. Conservation Dist. receive funding

The Hermitage School District, the Sharon City School District, and the Mercer County Conservation District all recently received state Environmental Education Program grants from the Department of Environmental Protection, according to Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and state Representative Mark Longietti (D-7).

Hermitage School District received $2,000 to conduct a school energy audit and develop a conservation plan.

Sharon City School District received $15,000 for the Academic Standards for Environment and Ecology.

The Mercer County Conservation District received $19,529 for the presentation of a five-day "Meet the Farmer" teacher workshop; the development of a program on threatened, endangered and extinct species; and, continuing education to provide students with hands-on educational programming.
