Local Projects Receive State Grants

Efforts rewarded with Community Conservation Partnerships funds

A number of local projects have been selected to receive Community Conservation Partnerships Program grants from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, according to Senator Bob Robbins (R-50).

The CCPP provides financial and technical assistance to local governments, land trusts, river and trail organizations and other non-profit organizations for the planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenway areas.

"This is good news not only for the many organizations and communities that are receiving these grants, but for all local residents as well," Senator Robbins said. "Grants that Pennsylvania provides for parks and recreation areas are long-term investments in communities and in improving the quality of life for everyone."

The Oil Heritage Region received a $240,000 grant, which includes the following grants in the 50th Senatorial District:

  • $100,000 to cover the costs of operating and managing the Oil Heritage Region.
  • $45,000 to install a visitor's center in the Perry Street Station, Titusville, Crawford County.
  • $50,000 to select a threatened residential building to be used as a hands-on restoration training site for volunteers and practitioners.

The Meadville Recreation Authority received $75,000 for further development of the Meadville Area Recreation Center to include installation of dasher boards for the ice rink; players' gates and boxes; installation of ADA access; sign and related improvements.

New Wilmington Borough received $17,500 to prepare a master site development plan for the 9.6 acre New Wilmington Borough Community park.

Five grants were awarded in Mercer County:

  • Delaware Township received $20,000 for the renovation of Delaware Township Park to include construction of dugouts: installation of ADA access; backstops; fence, landscaping, sign and related improvements.
