Titusville City Police Youth Crime Watch Group

HARRISBURG – On April 26, 2004, The "Titusville City Police Youth Crime Watch Group," visited the Pennsylvania state capitol building in Harrisburg. After the tour of the capitol building the students had the opportunity to visit the office of Senator Bob Robbins (R-50).

The Titusville Middle School students are also participants in the "Stand Tall Program," a drug and alcohol awareness program that requires the students to pledge to be drug and alcohol free and to be randomly drug tested.

Senator Robbins presents check to PA Disabled American Veterans

March 24, 2004 - HARRISBURG - At a recent ceremony in the State Capitol Building, Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and other legislators presented a check in the amount of $250,000 to the Pennsylvania Disabled American Veterans (DAV). These funds were approved by the General Assembly in the state budget for fiscal year 2003-2004 to assist in purchasing 13 new vans for the DAV's Transportation Network. The DAV Hospital Transportation Network was launched in 1988. During the last several years volunteer drivers have logged more than 1.5 million miles in assisting Pennsylvania veterans.

April 2004 - HARRISBURG - Pictured with Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) is Pennsylvania's Fair Queen, Krystal McCraken. Senator Robbins recently met Ms. McCraken at an event in the Pennsylvania State Capitol. Krystal, a resident of Latrobe, PA, is attending Penn State University majoring in Agricultural Business Management with intentions of working for the U. S. Department of Agriculture after graduation. As Pennsylvania's Fair Queen, Krystal will be devoting much of her summer promoting the 118 Fairs throughout Pennsylvania. She will be talking to groups about the importance of Agriculture, which is Pennsylvania's number one industry.

March 31, 2004 - HARRISBURG – District Justice Michael Rossi met with local legislators in Harrisburg to discuss matters affecting the office of District Justice. Pictured with District Justice Michael Rossi is Senator Bob Robbins (R-50), Representative Rod Wilt (R-17) and Representative John Evans (R-5).

District Justice Rossi, of Vernon Township, Crawford County, is currently serving his 9th year as a District Justice, having been re-elected to this position in November 2003. The Magisterial Judicial District includes the townships of Vernon, Summit, East Fallowfield, Greenwood, Sadsbury, Union and the Borough of Conneaut Lake. Judge Rossi is a member of the Crawford County District Justice's Association and a member of the Pennsylvania Special Court Judges Association.

March 30, 2004 - HARRISBURG – Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Firth of Mercer, Pennsylvania, both alumni of Penn State University, attended activities at the State Capitol on March 30, 2004, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the establishment of Penn State as a land-grant university. Pictured with Leslie and Elaine Firth is Senator Bob Robbins (R-50), who supported Senate Resolution 209, which congratulated the Pennsylvania State University on the commencement of its sesquicentennial.

March 1, 2004 - Harrisburg – Senator Bob Robbins (R-50), a decorated Vietnam War veteran, attended a ceremony in Harrisburg honoring "America's Huey" 091 as it made its way to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C.

Huey 091 was built in 1965 and was damaged in battle three times during the Vietnam War. She is being flown to Washington, D.C., where on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2004, she will become the largest piece in a new permanent exhibition of all US wars at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History titled "The Price of Freedom." As the Huey entered the City of Harrisburg the pilot did a flyover of the Capitol building before landing the aircraft on Commonwealth Avenue behind the Capitol. Those participating in the ceremony were Governor Rendell, members of Pennsylvania's Congressional delegation, members of the General Assembly, the Armed Services and Vietnam War veterans. The Huey helicopter, also know as a "Slick," changed the method of warfare. It became an invaluable piece of military equipment during the Vietnam War as it was used as a gun ship, transported troops and supplies into battle and assisted in the recovery of the wounded.

February 10, 2004 - Harrisburg – In early February 2004, the Pennsylvania Senate and House of Representatives recognized the distinguished career of Virgil F. Puskarich, the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Local Government Commission. Mr. Puskarich died January 4, 2004 having served 33 years with the Local Government Commission, 29 of those years as its Executive Director. The Senate and House adopted resolutions (SR 201 and HR 553) expressing profound sorrow and condolences on the passing of Virgil Puskarich and recognized the contributions that he made to the General Assembly and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

February 26, 2004 - Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and Governor Edward Rendell take a few moments to discuss budget and economic development issues during the "Toast to Tourism Dinner" held in Butler County.

Harrisburg – Pictured with Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) is Brigadier General Jessica L. Wright, the new Adjutant General of Pennsylvania. The state Senate unanimously confirmed the nomination of General Wright following a hearing in which Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) sought assurances that guard members in combat zones are properly equipped.

The Senate action on February 3, 2004, makes Brigadier General Jessica L. Wright the first woman to serve as Pennsylvania's top military officer and commander of the state Army National Guard and Air National Guard. She has nearly 30 years of military service where she has dedicated herself to the Commonwealth and the nation. Previous to becoming the Adjutant General, General Wright was Pennsylvania Deputy Adjutant General for Army.
