November 28, 2006 - Harrisburg – Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) was recently recognized by the United States Army during their "Freedom Team Salute" for his past military service as a Vietnam War veteran and his strong leadership in the Pennsylvania Senate for the men and women who are currently serving in the Armed Forces of the United States. A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1966, Senator Robbins completed two tours of duty in Vietnam and received over a dozen medals for his service including the Soldier's Medal for Heroism, the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, Army Commendation Medals for Valor and the Combat Infantry Badge. He served as Company Commander with D Company, 501st Airborne Infantry Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division. "I am proud to have received the United States Army's Freedom Team Salute award," stated Senator Robbins. "The men and women in our Armed Forces would not be the best in the world without the support of its citizens and the support we given them in defending our freedoms." The Freedom Team Salute provides Active, Reserve and National Guard Soldiers an opportunity to recognize parents, spouses and employers for the support and strength they provide to those serving in uniform.
