FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Grove City Library Receives $489,985 State GrantMoney to support major expansion project Grove City Borough was recently awarded a $489,985 state grant to support a major expansion project at the Grove City Community Library, according to state Senator Bob Robbins (R-50) and state Representative Dick Stevenson (R-8). The Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund grant is expected to cover half of the costs for construction of a 2,657 square-foot addition to the existing 6,625 square feet of space at the library. The new space will be used for an expanded children’s area, a new meeting room, and a computer/internet use area. "Fortunately, many families in Grove City use the library as a resource for leisure and learning. Unfortunately, the increasing number of library patrons – especially for children’s programs – often results in overcrowding in the current building," Senator Robbins said. "The expansion will increase the size of the library by forty percent, which will provide the space to accommodate the demand for those programs." "The library has seen a sustained growth through the years and has become a center for many community activities," Representative Stevenson said. "With this growth there has been a corresponding growth in the amount and types of materials it offers. This grant will enable the Grove City Library to complete an essential project which will give it the room to expand its selections and its’ important service to the community."
